Wingfoil Lessons in Chicago and West Michigan Beginner Levels (1 -5)

Introducing our comprehensive Wind Winging Lessons covering Beginner Levels 1 through 5. Whether you're starting from scratch or aiming to refine advanced techniques, our structured program is designed to guide you through each stage of wingfoiling mastery.

We offer lessons all year round including snow wing lessons in the winter! Learn more about snow wing lessons here.

Level 1 - Ground School: In the initial hour, you'll learn to:

  • Set up the wing and board.
  • Hold the wing correctly and establish proper stance.
  • Utilize wind power to propel yourself forward.

Level 2 - Board Starts: Progressing to water, you'll:

  • Begin on your knees on a paddleboard or wing foilboard.
  • Advance to standing, maintaining balance while holding the wing.
  • Learn to navigate upwind.

Note: If water conditions are unsuitable, we'll adapt by practicing winging techniques on land or snow.

Level 3 - Efoiling: Focus on foiling in a controlled environment using an electric-powered foil board without the wing. This 1 to 2-hour session emphasizes:

  • Understanding balance and body control.
  • Mastering foiling nuances without wind or wave interference.

Level 4 - Wing Foiling: Combine your paddleboard and efoiling skills to:

  • Transition to a wingfoil board.
  • Practice upwind and downwind navigation.
  • Develop pumping techniques for both wing and foilboard.

Consideration: At this stage, you might contemplate acquiring personal gear.

Level 5 - Wave Riding, Jibing, and Tacking: Achieve advanced proficiency by learning to:

  • Ride Lake Michigan swells.
  • Execute jibes and tacks.
  • Progress to toeside riding.
