Note that this is an incredible beach in the spring and fall but it will be crowded in the summer. Use your best discretion and consider another beach when its crowded with the general public.  

• Best Wind Directions: Northwest to West winds work best for Silver Beach. A Northwest wind can be gusty near the shoreline due to the dune directly upwind but once you get a hundred yards out, passed the blue railing on the pier, the wind cleans up.  These directions create some swell with good sized waves but behind the pier is usually fairly flat unless the wind switches out of the west.  West winds can be quite fun as you cruise the shoreline between waves but there is no flat water to protection you from the waves.  
• Why It’s Great: With its soft sands and wide beach, Silver Beach makes launching and landing your kite a breeze.
• Pro Tip: Arrive early during summer weekends to secure your spot, as this beach can get busy with swimmers and tourists.
• Warning: We don't recommend setting up or launching near beach g9oers. Yield to everyone, don't take chances, be respectful and have fun!

Expect smoother water, better jumps and downwind the waves do stay cleaner on certain wind directions. 

• Best Wind Directions: Southwest winds provide the best conditions, while West to WSW winds can create exciting challenges for more experienced riders. 
• Why It’s Great: The deeper waters near Tiscornia Park make it a great location for intermediate and advanced kiteboarders.
• Pro Tip: Although the flat waters of a South and SSE wind wind look inviting, the shoreline falls back to create a dangerously offshore scenario.  It's best to avoid these directions if you are not experienced with this spot. Also, watch out for boat traffic near the harbor entrance and always yield to larger vessels.

3. Jean Klock Park

Jean Klock Park is a lesser known kiteboarding gem. Located in Benton Harbor, just a mile or two to north of Tiscornia Park, Jean Klock Park boasts a wide beach, that is optimal for kiteboarding on a Northeast wind direction.  During the summer months, this forecast can often be accompanied by a thermal if the sun is shinning.  It's far enough upwind of the St. Joseph pier to allow for clean waves and plenty of room to get pulled downwind on a northeast or a WSW wind.  We love teaching kiteboarding lessons here when the wind is from the North or NE directions. Expect wavier waters with shallow sandbars.

• Best Wind Directions: WSW, West, North to Northeast provide suitable wind conditions, while SW winds can be offshore and gusty.
• Why It’s Great:  Jean Klock Park is the most northern beach in Western Michigan suitable to kiteboard with clean wind on a NE wind direction. If it's sunny, you can also expect to see white caps on a NE during a thermal. It's also a wide enough beach to practice your kite skills on the beach.
• Pro Tip: If you drift downwind from Tiscornia Park, Jean Klock Park it is also a great exit point to get rescued by your buddy if you get caught in the wind shadow of a SW wind. You can also find space to launch a kite here if the other beaches are crowded, just make sure to get there before noon during the weekends on a hot summers day.  The beach can fill up quickly by late morning.
